Tasting Notes: Toasted Oats, Caramel, Sweetgrass
Hōjicha infusions have a light- to reddish-brown appearance and are less astringent due to losing catechins during the high-temperature roasting process. The roasting process provides a flavour that has a toasty, slightly caramel-like flavour. This process used to make Hōjicha also lowers the amount of caffeine in the tea making it perfect for the evening and after meals.
